Winter Eclectic Results + WLS 13

The sixth and final round of the Winter Eclectic at Reay was played in very testing conditions. Kenny Farmer, who has enjoyed an excellent winter season, carded the best score of the day courtesy of his nett 74. However, the overall prize went to Lee Parnell, who has enjoyed his fair share of success in the Eclectic in recent years. His superb final nett aggregate score of 61.50 courtesy of a gross total of 63 was good enough to seal victory from his nearest challenger, Simon Harper, by a margin of less than one stroke. Harper, who had led the Eclectic standings at the half-way point, finished on a very creditable score of 62.37.

The evergreen Ian Ritchie took third place on 64.62, with Fred Groves fourth on 65.62. Another Eclectic specialist, Andy Bain, took fifth spot on 66.00.

Kenny Farmer also topped the standings in round 13 of the Winter League Stableford, with a brilliant score of 41 points in breezy conditions. Colin Munro took second place with a haul of 40 points, with John O’Brien third on 38.

Mid-March Update

The March Medal at Reay was played in calm and bright conditions, and several excellent scores were posted as players took advantage of the fine spring weather. Winner of the silverware by a single shot was Robbie Swanson after he carded a superb nett score of 63 courtesy of a round of 83. After an outward half of 42, Swanson produced a steady back nine of 41 which included a crucial birdie at the final hole to seal the victory. The unfortunate runner-up after a nett 64 was Stuart Grieg, who at least had the consolation of recording the best gross score of the day with his 74. A brace of birdies at the 8th and 12th holes provided the highlights of his round. Alex Mackay and Andy Bain shared third place after both carded rounds of nett 67, with Lee Sutherland finishing a further shot behind.

Good scores were much harder to come by in Round 5 of the Winter Eclectic which was played in wet and windy conditions. Evan Sutherland finished at the top of the standings on countback courtesy of his round of nett 74. John Nicolson finished second after he also posted a score of nett 74, with Fred Groves claiming third spot with his round of nett 75.

In the overall Eclectic Standings, Simon Harper remains in pole position with an aggregate score of 64.37. Lee Parnell lies in second place on 64.50, with Fred Groves third on 65.37. With one round remaining there are still several players handily placed who could make an impression on the leaders.

Round 12 of the Winter League Stableford was won by Danny O’Hagan with an excellent tally of 37 points. John Nicolson, Alistair Gunn and Steve Efemey shared the runners-up spot on 36. In the overall standings, John Nicolson retains a narrow lead of two points on an aggregate score of 219, with Sandy Chisholm and Liam Bremner handily placed on 217 should the leader slip-up.
