Captain's Charity

The players of Reay gathered on Sunday to compete in the Captain’s Charity competition, a Stableford event. The bright sun, blue skies and gentle breeze provided favourable scoring conditions, and a number of players duly took advantage.
Top of the pile after amassing an impressive 40 points was youngster Ewan Crawford. Crawford has spent much of his summer break from university honing his golfing skills, and was rewarded with an excellent round of 77 which was made up of halves of 39 and 38.
Runner-up after a countback was Colin Munro also on 40 points. Munro produced a steady round of 73 made up of 14 pars and 4 bogeys. Back in third place on 37 points was David Mackay following a topsy-turvy round of 78. The highlight of Mackay’s round was a birdie 2 at the short 5th. Also on 37 points, following a welcome return to form was Andy Swan. No less than 7 players shared fifth place, a point further back on 36 points.
This weekend sees Whalsay in Shetland host the Wilson Cup and a four man team comprising Gavin Sutherland, Evan Sutherland, Alistair Gunn, and Grant Maxwell who will be making the long journey to represent Reay.
