Saturday saw players at Reay competing for the July Medal in
bright and breezy conditions. The fast and firm conditions, coupled with some
unforgiving rough ensured that good scores were at a premium and this was
reflected in the CSS which rose to 70.
In Category One, Gavin Gunn took top spot with a superb nett
66 courtesy of a gross score of 75, which included a brace of birdies at the
10th and 13th holes. The in-form Tom Ross took second place on nett 68 after he
also posted a gross 75, with a solitary birdie at the 5th the highlight of his
round. David Mackay finished third on 69.
In Category Two, Pete McCartney finished head and shoulders
above the rest with an excellent nett score of 67. Billy Moore finished a
distant second on 74, with Jock Eunson claiming third place on 76.
