Bright and breezy conditions meant good scores were at a
premium on Saturday where players used their handicap allowance to play in a
matchplay format of the game against the course.
In the final analysis only two
players, Gavin Sutherland and Evan Sutherland, managed to defeat the course,
with both men securing a winning margin of victory of 2up. After a
disappointing triple bogey at the 2nd, Gavin soon found form with birdies at
the 5th and 6th holes helping him reach the turn in 36. Further birdies at the
10th and 14th were the highlights of an inward half of 38, which also included
further double bogeys at the final two holes. Despite this disappointing finish,
his gross score of 74 was good enough to secure the silverware on countback.
Evan took the runners-up spot following a steady round of gross 77, made up of
halves of 38 and 39. Birdies at the 5th and 12th holes provided the highlights
of his round.
The in-form Colin Paterson took third place, finishing 1down on
the course, after a round of 74 which included a single birdie at the 14th
hole. Tim Hawes and Lee Parnell shared fourth spot, after both players finished
2down.
