Overcast, cool, and occasionally
damp conditions did not deter the spirits of players competing in the two
competitions held over the Reay links at the weekend. On Saturday players from
the home club were competing for glory in the George Coupar Challenge, a
Stableford competition, and despite some tricky pin positions, a number of
excellent scores were recorded.
Taking victory with a score of 37
points was Gregor Munro, yet another of the youngsters currently learning their
craft at the club. He won by the narrowest of margins on countback from John
Disbury who also managed to accumulate 37 points. Disbury will be having
nightmares after a 7 at the final hole following an incursion in to the
greenside bunker cost him victory. Leading the chasing pack were Ian Ross and
Andy Bain on 36 points, with John O’Brien, Gavin Sutherland and Alistair Gunn a
point further back on 35.
