O'Macaco's checked out the venue for the 2012 US Open and IT IS BRUTAL!!!! It's a last man standing job this one. Any player that gets round without slapping his Pro v1 (other golf balls are available behind the bar!!) into a Monterey Pine will have done well. This course has more dog legs than the waggiest tail comp at Crufts!
So, where should you invest your hard earned pine-nuts? Lets look at the facts (and other slightly less factual facts)
Over the years The Olympic club seems to have thrown up US open winners from the more pious corners of the golfing fraternity. And with the Pope failing to qualify this year (other religeous leaders are available, although not behind the bar in this instance - we're all out of Dali Lama's), that leaves it wide open for Zach Johnson to add the US Open to his Green Jacket......or does it? The last player in the field to win over this course was Carl Knost, who bagged the US Amateur here in 2007. And O'Macaco reckons he's well worth a punt to finish in the top 10 at an attractive 25-1 to do so. But come on....Olympic Club...2012...London Olympics......the winner has to be a Londoner. And so O'Macaco's tip for Gold this week - born near East London, South Africa - residence London England, Type of Gold - Rose Gold, AND his greco-roman wrestling great grandfather, Arthur Rose, competed at the 1908 London Olympics!!!.........it has to be.....JUSTIN ROSE - get yer brown folding notes on JR to keep his pinnacle gold on the paddock and take the laurels at 28-1
